Mung Bean & Cowpea

[Summer 2019 – Columbus, OH]

This summer, we grew mung bean and cowpea in our corn bed as they are good nitrogen fixer. These plants are super easy to grow, other than planting the seeds and watering they do not need any special care. They are mainly cultivated in South Asia, Southeast Asia, and East Asia. Roughly they took 3 to 4 months to give their dried bean harvest. Not only the cowpea bean, South Asians even use tasty, nutritious cowpea greens in different recipes.
