Soybean

[Summer 2019 – Columbus, OH]

This summer we grew two heirloom soybean varieties, one with purple flowers and the other one with white flowers. Their germination and maintenance were super easy as they didn’t get any pest damages. But chipmunks and birds love to eat the immature soybeans. So we let them enjoy more than two-thirds of our harvest.
All the animals, including us, love to enjoy fresh organic produce. But, unfortunately, others can’t grow their food. Therefore it is always worth to separate some portion of our harvest for them.
