[Summer 2019 – Columbus, OH]
In early June we planted two varieties of okra; Spineless Clemson and our heirloom seeds. Both types grew well, but their leaves have a significant difference. Okra is a heat-tolerant plant which gives a maximum harvest during the hottest months. Once they start producing pods, we can collect them every other day. Matured or dried okra signal the plants to reduce production. Therefore if we want more, then we should harvest more. These plants are super easy to maintain and have zero pest damages. Two to three inches size pods are the tastiest and best to harvest.
