Swiss Chard

[Summer 2019 – Columbus, OH]

As same as the last two years, this year also we grew the white stalk Swiss chard variety in our plot. They are one of the easiest vegetables to grow. Chard does not want nutrient-rich soil but, they want plenty of water in summer. Plant diseases and insect damages are fairly uncommon in chard. Usually, they do well in Fall and withstand even in frost.

Although chard has a mild soft taste, it is rich with a lot of nutrients. We can add them to salads, soups, or curries.
