[Summer 2017 & 2018 – Columbus, OH]
We grew two varieties of broccoli.
- Calabrese Broccoli (Italian heirloom)
- Broccoli Waltham (heirloom)
In early May we planted the seeds, and they took 3.5 months to give their very first harvest. After harvesting the main head, these plants gave us more shoots until the end of the growing season. We used neem oil to control pest damages and grew marigold as a companion plant to repel pests. Regular watering and nutrient-rich soil were the critical reasons for a successful broccoli harvest.
