Kohlrabi

[Summer 2018 – Columbus, OH]

This summer, we grew kohlrabi from seeds, and they took four months to give a mature harvest. Kohlrabi needs regular watering, frequent weeding, and nitrogen-rich soil. We sprayed diluted neem oil once in two weeks to control pests such as worms and whiteflies. Neem oil is a traditional biopesticide commonly used in the Indian subcontinent for organic farming. Once the kohlrabi bulbs reach 3-4 inches in diameter, we can harvest them. We can use the whole kohlrabi plant in different recipes.
